​BETA LAMBDA CHAPTER
While the College of William and Mary was founded in 1693, it was not until 1922 that Kappa Alpha Theta reached our campus. Kappa Alpha Theta, Beta Lambda Chapter, was the second women's fraternity to be recognized at W&M. We are now over 100 members strong.

MISSION STATEMENT
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Kappa Alpha Theta exists to nurture each member throughout her college and alumnae experience and to offer a lifelong opportunity for social, intellectual and moral growth as she meets the higher and broader demands of mature life.

FRATERNITY PURPOSE
The intellectual ambition of the Fraternity shall be the attainment of highest scholarship. The social aim of the Fraternity shall be to exercise the widest influence for good. The moral aim of the Fraternity shall be the standard of love.

Kappa Alpha Theta, the first Greek-letter fraternity among women, was founded in 1870 by Bettie Locke Hamilton, Alice Allen Brant, Bettie Tipton Lindsey, and Hannah Fitch Shaw. Theta is over 170 chapters strong with houses throughout the United States and Canada. Over 170,000 women have been initiated into Theta, forming strong friendships in chapters from all over, holding the fraternity together.
