For more than 25 years, the national philanthropy of Kappa Alpha Theta has been Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA was created by a juvenile court judge in 1977 to ensure that the abuse and neglect suffered by some children at home does not continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the judicial system. CASA has over 950 chapters throughout the United States.  For the past 20 years, CASA advocates have been teaming up with Kappa Alpha Theta to help childeren across the United States. For more information on CASA visit www.casaforchildren.org.

Today, CASA is one of the fastest-growing community service projects in the country. CASA volunteers are ordinary citizens recruited from the community and trained to speak for abused and neglected children in court. Volunteers appear in court with attorneys and social workers to recommend to the judge what is best for the child’s future, thus becoming their voice in court.

Both college and alumnae chapters host events throughout the year to support their state and local CASA organizations. We give to CASA in many ways: as thoughtful advocates, committed volunteers and generous donors.

The Beta Lambda Chapter raises money to support our local chapter of CASA, Colonial CASA, which serves the Greater

Williamsburg area. Sisters in our chapter also work to support CASA through holding internships and volunteering for special events with the Colonial CASA office.  For more information on our local chapter of CASA visit www.colonialcasa.org.

Benefitting CASA

Since CASA is an entirely volunteer based organization, donations are vital for its continued success. Help us support an important cause that is near and dear to our hearts. Donate now to our chapter and all proceeds will go directly to Colonial CASA!
